Not your average family run Tavern
About us
Sitting in the heart of Central Otago in the deep south of New Zealand and with a rich history going back to the gold mining days of the 1800’s, it's no surprise our owners felt like they came across a nugget when they found the Tavern.

First established in 2011, the Robertsons purchased the Tavern at the start of 2020. Taking on the hospitality game at the start of the pandemic wasn't quite what they had in mind...but they pushed through and haven't looked back since.

Meet the family
Meet the Robertsons! Pete, Karine,Sami, Rylee and of course Hank the Tank. With over 20 years experience in the Hospitality industry, it's safe to say this family knows a thing or two about pouring a pint & making people feel at home in their Tavern.

Lets not forget Hank
Hank is one of the biggest members of the Gibbston Tavern family. You'll no doubt see him out at the Tavern although his busy schedule means he might not be there everyday. Hank was rescued by Karine & Pete when he was 10 months old, and since then has been living his absolute best life with the family.

Hank is very friendly and loves lots of cuddles so don't be shy to say hello when visiting the Tavern.
